Welcome to my blog! Here is what you can expect:
1. Posts primarily about things related to the Bible, spiritual growth, books, church history, contemporary Christianity, and sports. I especially enjoy encouraging people in their walk with Christ. Here are some examples of some posts that I think are especially geared toward helping someone develop their personal walk with the Lord Jesus Christ:“Tips for an Effective Devotional Time”, “Professor Horner’s Bible Reading Plan”, “Modern Bible Translation Philosophies”, “What Kind of Bible Should I Use? Formal (Literal) or Functional (Dynamic)?”, “Prayer of Dedication”
2. A new post once or twice a month. I’d love to post multiple times a week, but church responsibilities and family commitments (with a wife and four growing kids) preclude the possibility at this stage in my life.
3. If you comment, which I hope you do, a response with a few days. But per my previous statement about church and family, I may be slower in response.
Thanks for stopping by and have a grace-filled day!
My passion is leading God’s people into a dynamic relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ through the clear proclamation of God’s Word. A native of southern Illinois, I am a graduate of Union University (B.A.), Southwestern Seminary (M.Div.) and Luther Rice (D.Min.). I am the founding pastor of a marvelous group of Christ-followers known as Harvest Bible Chapel of Jacksonville.
Redeemed by Christ at sixteen, I began preaching at eighteen, and have served as a Senior Pastor since 1994. I have also been the guest speaker at camps, retreats, college chapels, and various other venues.
A lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, I also enjoy studying history, listening to classical music, shooting ammo and arrows at various critters (deer, quail, ducks, geese, pheasants, hogs, rabbits, etc.), and, most of all, spending quality time with my family. I married way, way over my head when I exchanged vows with Lacey. We have been blessed with four wonderful children: Chase, Bryce, Grace Ann, and Esther.
