Recommended Bibles

The primary Bible version I use for public preaching and teaching is the New King James Version (NKJV).

Click here to learn more about the NKJV

If you want a tried and true translation, and if you can handle older English, then you can't go wrong with the King James Version (KJV), which is my preferred personal reading translation.

The King James Version

For Bible study (listed in chronological order of publication):
King James Version (KJV)
New American Standard (NASB)
New King James Version (NKJV)
The NET Bible (NET)
English Standard Version (ESV)

Learn More About the ESV Study Bible

A good translation to use for extended reading sessions:
New International Version (NIV84)

For a Bible that is a good compromise between literal and readable:
Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

For young children:
New Century Version (NCV)
New Living Translation (NLT)
New International Readers Version (NIrV)
