I am encouraged by Albert Mohler’s latest blog post, which opens with these words: “Nancy Keenan is worried. The current president of NARAL, Keenan detects a loss of fervor in support of abortion rights among younger women, and she talked openly to Newsweek about her concern.”
A lot has changed since the historic Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973. Perhaps most impactful has been the technological advances, enabling us to completely demolish the old pro-abortion argument that the pre-born baby is just a “blob of tissue.” Thanks to ultrasound technology, a woman today is able to take a marvelous look at the baby nestled in her womb.
We, the pro-lifers, also have math working in our favor. Surprise! Surprise! Pro-lifers have more children than the pro-abortion crowd, meaning we can win this battle simply through time and procreation alone (assuming we successfully pass along our values).
I suspect that as the pro-abortion crowd continues to dwindle in numbers, or at least become dwarfed by the pro-life side, their last gasp to protect abortion rights will be to seek to pass legislation banning large families (a la China’s one child per family policy). Their reason will be to protect the environment. The argument will be that smaller families mean a smaller carbon footprint. With our government continuing to assume control of more aspects of our economy and our lives, this really is not that far-fetched. Expect to see this point (smaller families = better environment) increasingly presented in the mainstream media in the next few years.
While I am on the subject, I think now is a good time to mention the fact that perhaps the biggest dirty secret of the pro-abortion crowd is that an influential portion of its adherents support abortion rights for a very shameful reason: to stabilize or even decrease the numbers of African-Americans in our country. In other words, there are people who support the pro-abortion cause with racist motives. Planned Parenthood, the leading abortion provider in this country, has some shameful skeletons in the closet when it comes to this reality.
Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, was an enemy of large families and a rabid racist. Here are a few of her quotes:
“The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”
“More children from the fit, less from the unfit — that is the chief aim of birth control.”
“We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.”
She called blacks, immigrants, and indigents: “human weeds,” “reckless breeders,” “spawning…human beings who should have never been born.”
Sanger was a strong supporter of eugenics. Eugenics was the philosophy underlying the attempted extermination of the Jews in Nazi Germany.
So I write this post with great optimism concerning the cause for life. Those who support abortion are fighting a losing battle. Time and numbers are on our side, technology is on our side, philosophy is on our side, truth is on our side, and most importantly, God is on our side. And if God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8.31)
I have been watching many of these types of concerns over the years.
As a very bad sinner myself, i know just how ugly and sinful my life has been, so I cannot lokk down my nose at anyone, not even Hitler!
I was not born in the 16th century, nor was I born into a Catholic family, therefore forcing my religion and morals off onto other people is a strict no no.
2Ch 7:13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
America is not being healed because we Christians are not repenting of our sins, so that God can heal our Land, Greater is He that is in us, that he that is in the world.
if we were truely humble and following the leading of the Spirit, then we would arrive at the same place doctrinaly, the Spirit is not going to lead one denomination differently that another.
without all of us being unified in and through the Spirit, America is doomed.
abortion, gays rights, pornography, adultry, forication, witchcraft, and all other ungodlt sins that we have ungodly commited, will continue to grow, because of the denominationaly divided church.
the sinfulness of America is our fault, not the devil nor those that walk through the wide gate that leadeth to destrution.
What ever you do , that’s your choice… But salvation is an individual thing and I ~ personnaly will not follow the land nor the world to hell.
