As a pastor, my calling is to connect people to God through Jesus Christ. My goal on this website is to share with you what I’m learning as I seek to live a fruitful life for the glory of God. You and I were created for God’s Glory:
…everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made. -Isaiah 43.7
…all things were created through him and for him. – Colossians 1.16
If we were created for God, then we find our life’s purpose in living for God…for His glory. So the next question we must ask is this: How can we live for God’s glory?
Jesus answered that question on the night before he was crucified:
By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. – John 15.8
This blog is titled “The Fruitful Life” because that is my goal as a forgiven follower of Christ: to glory God by bearing much fruit. Is that your goal? I hope so.
What is fruit?
First and foremost it is Christlike character, manifested in our lives through the “fruit of the Spirit”:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. – Galatians 5.22-23 (ESV)
Second, it is doing good works:
…bearing fruit in every good work... – Colossians 1.10 (ESV)
Third, it is praising God:
Through him (Christ) then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. – Hebrews 13.5 (ESV)
Fourth, it is holy living:
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. – Romans 6.22 (ESV)
Fifth, it is generous giving:
So after I have completed this task and have made sure that they have received this fruit (money), I will go to Spain...- Romans 15.28 (NIV)
Finally, it is leading others to Christ:
I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that often I have planned to come to you (and have been prevented so far) so that I may obtain some fruit among you also, even as among the rest of the Gentiles. – Romans 1.13 (NAS)
My goal is to share with you insights I am learning that are helping me to live a more fruitful life to the glory of God.
I don’t know how you feel about your life, but I am tremendously blessed. My sins have been forgiven and I am headed for Heaven. My heavenly Father loves me and cares about me. My Savior holds the whole world in His hands, which means nothing that comes my way hasn’t first been approved by Him. He has given me a wonderful wife and four beautiful children. We live in an exciting, family-friendly city where the sun is almost always shining and you are usually greeted with a warm smile.
As God is blessing me, I want to be a blessing to others. I want to live the fruitful life. Do you?
