An amazing video…. in the eschatological (end times) Lake of Fire there won’t be the protective suit and oxygen tank, and even more frightening, there will not be the ability to end the suffering.
And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Here they go again, planning to picket another funeral. This time it’s the funeral of Apple, Inc. founder Steve Jobs. Margie Phelps tweeted to the world their latest plans…via her iPhone. The irony was quickly noted by several media outlets. Ms. Phelps responded as expected, filled with condemnation: “Rebels mad cuz I used iPhone to tell you Steve Jobs is in hell. God created iPhone for that purpose! “
Steve Jobs (1955-2011)
Seriously? Is that why God created Steve Jobs with his exceptional talents…talents that would eventually give the world innovative and efficient technology products, like the iPhone? God did this just so Ms. Margie Phelps could use an iPhone to celebrate Mr. Jobs death? Memo to the universe: neither the Phelps family nor the Westboro Baptist Church are accepted by true followers of Jesus Christ as legitimate spokespeople for the Christian faith.
Faithful Gospel preaching in this era of spiritual apathy requires faith and patience. Two stories from the past will encourage the faithful witness.
First, a story from the ministry of John Flavel (1628-1691). Robert Murray M’Cheyne reports of how a 15 year old American immigrant named Luke Short heard Flavel preach a message on 1 Corinthians 16.22: “If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema. Maranatha!” Short was not a Christian at the time, nor was he for the next 85 years. But at the age of 100, he reflected on the memory of that sermon and was converted! Of course, Flavel was already in glory with the Savior at that point.
The second story is not of a pastor but a layman who loved Jesus and proclaimed him faithfully through personal witnessing on a street in Sydney, Australia:
I’ve added a new page to this website. Previously I only had this blog page and the “About Me” page. The pages are tabbed just above. The new page is “Most Importantly…” and contains a clear but fairly thorough presentation of the Gospel from Grace to You.
If you are not a follower of Jesus Christ, I pray that you would read this new page and take the words to heart so we can continue to be friends in Heaven someday. I write this most sincerely. There is nothing more important.
This past Sunday, I told a story about Michael Guido, who went to be with the Lord earlier this year at the age of 94. Dr. Guido served the Lord diligently for decades, never asking anyone for a penny. Yet God more than provided for his needs, raising up an international ministry that continues today by the leadership of his son. You may not recognize Dr. Michael Guido by name but you may recognize him from television. For many years he produced television PSAs (Public Service Announcements) titled “Seeds from the Sower” in which he shared the Good News of Christ. These television spots, filmed from the Guido Gardens (“a seed for the garden of your heart”) in Metter, Georgia brought hope to millions.
The first date I had with my wife was back in late August of 1994. We went to a concert that was held at Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Just five years later gunshots would ring out in that same sanctuary. Watch this video…

For Bible study (listed in chronological order of publication):
King James Version (KJV)
New American Standard (NASB)
New King James Version (NKJV)
The NET Bible (NET)

For a Bible that is a good compromise between literal and readable:
Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
For young children:
New Century Version (NCV)
New Living Translation (NLT)
New International Readers Version (NIrV)
